Music Ministry

Eastside Baptist Church  - Music Ministry

Someone once said, “Music is the only art of heaven given to people on earth, and it is the only art of earth which we take with us back to heaven.”  This may, or may not, be a true statement, but music at Eastside is one of the most wonderful gifts we share together in our worship and in the Christian nurturing of our members.  The music ministry is graded for all ages individually, but we also enjoy sharing the music of worship when the entire church family gathers.

The Little Angels is the youngest of the children’s choirs.  This group for ages, 3-kindergarten, enjoys a full range of music activities including bells, rhythm instruments, movement, and songs.  They also participate in the leadership of the congregational worship from time to time.

The Children’s Choir is for all children in grades 1-5.  This group enjoys all kinds of music activities and they prepare large-scale music productions each season, in addition to participating in regular worship services.

Music for Young People, takes on many different “faces”, including singing at regular youth gatherings, for mission events, and encouraging young people with instrumental gifts and abilities to participate in both youth and adult praise bands.

The Praise Team includes both instrumentalists and vocalist.  This group usually opens each of the Sunday morning worship services as they engage the entire congregation in praise.

The Eastside Bell Choir plays the 5 octave set of handbells for worship services and other special occasions.  This group regularly participates in the State Bell Choir Festival sponsored each year by the Baptist State Convention.

The Sanctuary Choir is open to all young people and adults who wish to use their voices in leading our congregation in worship each week.  The choir provides special music for the major seasons of the church year and for other special events.  This past November, the choir had its first weekend choir retreat and shared a wonderful time of fellowship and rehearsal on this year’s Christmas music program.
